Home » Baby Photography » 3 Little Lasses for Nicky & Steve: Sienna just one week old

What I often get asked is when is the best time to do newborn shoots. Typically it is when the baby is less than two weeks old. The reason for this is that they are still so sleepy and still curled up and its easier to get those peaceful sleepy shots. The advantage of doing your newborn shoots slightly old say 6-8 weeks is that the new mom has had more time to get used to her new addition and may have more confidence as well as the baby has filled out and we may get more expression. At the end of the day its comes down to a personal choice.

So when Nicky approached me to do a newborn shoot for Sienna I encouraged her to do it as soon as possible. We did the shoot at her home which made it far less stressful as it meant her two other young daughters were in their own environment. I had the opportunity to shoot with some new props I haven’t used before – the vintage style bonnet and a cute cabled bonnet were custom made for me by www.cuddleme.co.za which has a little outlet in Parkview shopping centre on Tyrone avenue.

Just loved this pic of Sienna all snoozy and peaceful after a feed. She is wearing a knitted little bonnet which is a new addition to my never ending newborn prop selection

My most fave pic!
